This committee aims to empower female scientists in the workplace, inspire girls to pursue science careers, and organise inclusive, family-friendly activities and talks addressing topics pertinent to women in academia open for everyone to attend.
The Women Research & Equity Committee aims to:
For women scientists: Empower women in research careers by providing tools to combat workplace discrimination, fostering professional growth through capacity building, leadership, and self-esteem activities, and supporting work-family balance with family-friendly events and shared experience groups. We also organise inclusive, family-friendly activities and talks addressing topics pertinent to women in academia open for everyone to attend.
For school teachers of future women scientists: Encourage girls to pursue STEM careers by offering age-appropriate activities featuring female scientist role models or stories written by women scientists.
For the general public: Increase awareness of women’s contributions to research by showcasing the work of women in STEM, emphasising the importance of their research, and highlighting gender equality in research capabilities, leadership, and management.
We are a very active committee searching for new volunteers to join us to either help us to run our current initiatives or to bring your own ideas. We will provide all the necessary tools and contacts to make them happen.
