SRUK/CERU comprises 6 departments within which all our committees are being managed by our fantastic SRUK/CERU Team of Volunteers!
The SRUK/CERU Executive Committee consists of 17 Directors elected by our SRUK/CERU members. The Executive Committee defines the strategic plan our Society follows for its growth and consolidation and defines the goals to be achieved year after by year.
The Outreach and Public Engagement department aims to bridge the gap between researchers and the general public by promoting science literacy, fostering interest in research, and creating opportunities for meaningful interactions between researchers and the public. This recently established department at SRUK/CERU explores new ways of conducting outreach efforts for the Science-me a Story, Cancer, and 'Investigación En Foco' committees. These committees employ distinct approaches to convey research in a multidisciplinary fashion to diverse audiences, including children, adults, researchers, and the general public.
The Science Policy department is a dynamic and diverse committee, with members from different backgrounds at various career stages. Our volunteers provide recommendations to foster the Spanish R&D system based on their knowledge of the British R&D system and take an active role in defending the interests and rights of Spanish scientists, specially during the Brexit negotiations.
The Department of International Collaborations bridges the collaboration gap between Spain and the UK, contributing to the success of both R&D systems. Our team of volunteers works on establishing bilateral agreements between institutions and managing mobility fellowships. They develop useful soft skills such as negotiation, grant policy, project management and understanding of international relationships.
The Communication and Online Department is the online face of SRUK/CERU in charge of the several communication channels with which we can increase the society's visibility world-wide. Our team keeps expanding, with more than 30 members and 4 sub-committees, targeting different aspect of our communications. Furthermore, our volunteers learn about scientific communication, discovery dissemination, and social networks.
The Equality, Diversity and Welfare Department consists of a young and active team of volunteers with the aim to promote the implementation and upholding of principles of equality and diversity in academia and beyond. Our Department includes the Wom=n Research & Equity Committee, LGBTI+ research and policies, mental health and functional diversity measures, and organises a variety of events in collaboration with partners and delegations.
