Maria Jose (Marisé) Galvez Trigo is originally from Toledo, Spain, although she’s lived in different parts of Spain, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. She is currently a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the School of Computer Science and Informatics at Cardiff University, and part of the Human-centred Computing (HCC) Research Section and its Subgroup in Computational and Human-centred Robotics. She has previously worked as Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Computer Science at the University of Lincoln and as Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, institutions that she is currently affiliated with as Associate.

Marisé studied a combined degree (BEng + MSc) in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Castilla La Mancha, and after a couple of years working in the Industry sector she decided to pursue a career in Academia and started a PhD in Rehabilitation and Healthcare Research at the University of Nottingham. Her main interests are in Robotics, Human-Robot Interaction, Human-Computer Interaction and applications of Machine Learning in those areas, with accessibility and co-design as key aspects of her research.

She also enjoys teaching and supervision activities, and she’s been heavily involved in initiatives, both in Spain and the UK, giving more visibility to the role of women in Science.
