The Communication and Online Department and the Midlands Constituency, with the support of the Outreach Department of the Society of Spanish Researchers in United Kingdom SRUK/CERU is delighted to invite you to the I SRUK/CERU Science Communication Symposium at the Instituto Cervantes of Manchester (M2 4FN) on the 2nd and 3rd of December.
We have prepared this two-day symposium as we believe that science communication is a crucial tool that all professionals working around research and innovation must possess, but, most of the time we oversee it and do not get proper training. This symposium will combine keynote talks with practical workshops and roundtables that will verse around these four topics:
- Institutional Science Communication
- Citizen Science and Public Engagement
- The use of new media channels in Science Communication
- Plastic arts in Science Communication
The Symposium will be free for SRUK/CERU members but it’s open to everyone interested. The official languages will be English on Saturday and Spanish on Sunday, as we consider it important to combine the language of the country where we conduct our professional career without forgetting our mother tongue. You can join us for just one day or the whole weekend, it’s up to you! Just select the right ticket when registering below.
Book your ticket as soon as possible as there is limited availability. Lunch and refreshments will be included for both days and attendees will receive a Certificate of attendance
There will be a number of microgrants available to cover part of the travel expenses of SRUK/CERU members attending the symposium from outside Manchester. Here are the details:
A microgrant will cover part of your travel and accommodation expenses up to a maximum of £70 (or £35 if you are just attending one of the days) and the percentage covered will be as follows:
Cost of travel + accommodation (£) | 0-30 | 30-50 | 50-80 | 80-100 | Over 100 |
Percentage of costs covered | 50% | 60% | 65% | 70% | £70 max |
For example, if your open return train ticket costs £40, SRUK/CERU will cover 60% of the price, and thus will reimburse you £24.
