Do you want to meet world-renowned experts in cancer research? Come and join us for the 1st Cancer Research Networking Day on the 16th of November in Manchester!
The SRUK Cancer Committee is launching for the first time the SRUK Cancer Networking Series to promote an European network of young researchers within the cancer field. These events aim to promote scientific discussion and collaborations between cancer researchers in the UK, Germany and Spain, and also brings together world-leading cancer institutions from these countries. This has been possible due to the partnership with our friends in Germany, CERFA. This Series consists of two networking days: the first to be held in the UK and the second in Spain (Early Summer 2020) both in world-leader hubs for cancer research; Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC) and the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), respectively.
This UK one-day event will include talks by British keynote speakers and early career researchers from Spain and Germany, Women in STEM discussions, networking and interactive activities including; meet the expert and career and funding opportunities.
This event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. However, due to the high relevance of the topic, we anticipate a large audience and therefore registration is required.

The participant funding bodies (CRUK, CRIScance, FC-AECC) will offer during the day a 1-2-1 sessions for further discussion about funding opportunities in the UK and Spain. If you are interested, please, show at the registration your interest. We will request your CV previous to the day in preparation to those session.
We have designed different interactive activities during the day to boost the collaborations between the participants as polls or informative badges.
In order to facilitate the attendance of members of SRUK residing outside Manchester, we are offering microgrants to provide partial support of travel expenses. If you are attending the event, you can apply for a microgrant until 8th November at the registration platform. The value of the microgrants depend of the SRUK constituency of origin:
London – £50 / SouthWest – £50 / Oxford – £50 / Cambridge – £50 / North Ireland – £50 / Midlands – £30 / North East – £30 / Yorkshire – £15 / Scotland – £15 / North West – £5
The selection will be carried out by seniority, prioritising first last year PhD students, postdocs, early career researchers and finally early students and senior members of SRUK. We will confirm the award of the microgrant by 13th NOvember at the latest and the funds will be transferred after the event.
