Beatriz Monterde Martínez

Co-Head of the Outreach Department

Involvement in SRUK/CERU

I obtained a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the University of Cantabria (Spain) in 2023 in the “Genomic Analysis of Tumour Development” Group (IBBTEC, Santander). In the end of the same year, I joined the “Evolutionary Immunogenomics”; Group at the Institute of Cancer Research (London, UK) with a Postdoctoral Training Fellow. My current research focuses on elucidating the role of the immune system during tumour progression and the development of novel immunogenomic-based metrics with prognostic value, that is, with the capacity to predict response to specific treatments, increasing the likelihood of survival of cancer patients. In addition to this, I am actively involved in the Postdoc committee of the ICR, overseeing travel bursary applications, the postdoc group of the Spanish Association for Cancer Research (ASEICA), I am an Ambassador of the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR), and I co-lead the Outreach and Public Engagement Department from SRUK/CERU with Alba Fernández Sanlés. Outside the lab, I enjoy travelling, visiting new places, training and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.
