Involvement in SRUK/CERU

Since January 2020 I’ve been working as a Research Fellow at De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester. A few months later I joined SRUK/CERU Midlands and during 2021 I got involved in the working group.

My research has always been focused on understanding neurodegenerative diseases. During my PhD in the Neurobiochemistry Lab in the Instituto de Neurociencias de Castilla y León (INCYL, Universidad de Salamanca) I studied the effects of Alzheimer amyloid-beta on neurons and astrocytes and the protective role of human serum albumin against those toxic effects. Nowadays, my research is focused on Parkinson Disease and, in particular, I’m studying the mitochondrial quality control systems in this pathology.
