I graduated as a Biochemist from the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2014. In 2015, I obtained my Master’s degree in Molecular Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain). Then, I started the Wellcome Trust PhD programme in Dynamic Cell Biology at University of Bristol in the laboratory of Prof. Jon Lane and I completed my PhD thesis in 2020. Here, I made notable contributions to the fields of molecular biology and neuroscience. Following the completion of my PhD, I moved to Edinburgh where I work as a postdoctoral research associate at Prof. Simon Wilkinson’s lab at University of Edinburgh. My current work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the selective degradation of the endoplasmic reticulum by autophagy (i.e. ER-phagy) as well as identifying new players in this pathway and determine their physiological relevance.
