Álvaro López-Acosta is a Spanish Research Fellow at Homerton College and the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, where he researches how (cell) membranes protect life under extreme UV conditions. His background combines scientific research with extensive community leadership, including roles with the European Parliament’s Events Executive Committee, growing Latin Soc UK to over 600 members, and leading NGO projects with Raleigh International in Costa Rica and Tanzania. A certified consultant in group dynamics, Álvaro is also a salsa instructor and is currently training for his Pilot PPL license. As Cambridge Director, he aims to build a welcoming, connected constituency that facilitates both professional networking and a supportive social community for Spanish-speaking researchers.
