We are happy to announce that on Monday 26th February 2024, from 17:30h to 19:00h BST, we will celebrate the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of our Society (online via Zoom). This is an important meeting which requires a quorum of members to be present, thus, we would like to encourage you to attend. Please, we would like to ask you to register to attend by completing the following form to receive the link to the EGM and further information about it.
In this EGM, we will ratify the role of Claudia López Rodríguez as Secretaryof SRUK/CERU, and of Nuria Rico Seijo as Head of the Department of Diversity, Equality and Welfare. Both Claudia and Nuria were appointed to their roles on an interim basis by the Executive Committee following their candidacy to the respective roles.
Additionally, the Executive Committee of SRUK/CERU proposes having two Co-Directors of the Science Policy Department, following the example of the Communications and Online Department. Consequently, on the 15th of January, the Executive Committee appointed Rafael Carrascosa Marzo and Igor Arrieta Torres as interim Co-Heads of the Science Policy Department, a decision which will be ratified during this EGM (candidacies here).
Finally, in this Assembly, we will present a set of proposed revisions to theArticles of the Society, to be approved by the regular members in attendance with a 75% majority vote. You can find the current Articles of the Society here. Importantly, the document with the proposed changes (highlighted in blue) is here.
During the EGM, we will go through these changes and explain their implications. If the changes are approved by the regular members in attendance with a 75% majority, we will pass a Special Resolution with the latest version of the Articles. The new Articles of the Society will also be made available on our website and will be circulated among all our members. It is very important for us to be able to count on you all to discuss and agree on these changes, so we encourage all of you to attend this meeting.
We remind you that, according to the Articles of the Society, the members with the right to vote at the Assembly are those registered as Regular and Founding members, while Associate members maintain the right of speech at the Meeting.
We also remind you that, if you are unable to attend the EGM in person, you can vote by proxy by appointing a member who will be in attendance to vote in your place. At the EGM, the proxy member must present a written Proxy Notice (see example) which states (1) your name, city, national ID or passport number, and signature, (2) your proxy’s name, city, national ID or passport number, and signature.
