Jaime is a social scientist and Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, Usher Institute. His interdisciplinary research sits at the intersection of sociology, public health, and cultural studies, examining how people experience and navigate infectious diseases, particularly sexually transmitted infections and pandemic-related risks. Drawing on mixed-methods approaches, Jaime investigates how gay men and LGBTQ+ communities mobilise memories of HIV/AIDS to understand COVID-19, how dating apps mediate intimacy and risk negotiation during health crises, and the role of digital platforms in supporting wellbeing. This work has direct relevance for pandemic preparedness, sexual health service design, and understanding health inequalities across gender and sexual minority populations.
