Sergio Serrano

Director of the North East Constituency

Involvement in SRUK/CERU

I am a final year PhD Student at Newcastle University focusing on the exploration of cutting-edge 3D-printed materials on microalgal systems. I also hold a BSc in Biotechnology and a BSc in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of the Basque Country. Besides, I was awarded a MSc in Industrial Biotechnology at Strathclyde University. I am particularly interested in microalgae’s potential as a novel source of metabolites, as well as its role as a pivotal component in the development of innovative circular economy solutions. In addition to my academic experience, I have accumulated several years of experience within the medical devices and molecular diagnostics industry in Scotland. Currently, I am the Director of the North East Constituency.
