Paula Antela-Costa is Lecturer and Deputy Language Director in Spanish at the University of Bristol, where she’s also the co-founder of the Bristol Hispanic Film Festival . With a strong interest in cinema, gamification, new technologies, and educational innovation, she is also a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh. Her doctoral thesis, supervised by Dr Carlos Soler Montes, is entitled “The Use of Transmedia Narratives in the Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) Classroom for the Development of Linguistic Competences, Critical Thinking, and Digital Literacy: An Inclusive Proposal”. Since 2022, she has been a member of the teaching innovation group ECO (Explora, Crea, Ofrece) at the University of Seville, where she contributes to an international project on pedagogical innovation in Higher Education. Since 2023, she has also served on the Executive Committee of ELEUK (Association of Spanish Language Teachers in Universities and Teacher Training Institutions in the United Kingdom) and is a member of the Association’s Special Interest Group on the Decolonisation of Spanish language teaching (SIG-DES-ELEUK).
