Involvement in SRUK/CERU

Dr Mario Saborido Beltrán holds a PhD in Hispanic Studies from the University of Edinburgh, an MScR in Applied Linguistics (Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language) from Nebrija University, and a BA in English Studies from the University of Granada. His research focuses on language beliefs and attitudes towards European Spanish dialectal variants—ceceo, seseo, and distinción—using the PRECAVES-XXI methodology to explore language ideologies and their impact on Spanish language teaching.
He currently teaches Spanish language and culture at the University of Bristol, promoting sociolinguistic awareness and cultural perspectives in language learning. Previously, he taught at the University of Edinburgh, delivering courses at various proficiency levels and contributing to curriculum design and teaching resources.

As Roving Director of SRUK/CERU, he oversees the Awards and Grants programme, contributes to the organisation’s strategic direction, and strengthens collaboration across its regional chapters.
