Following the long-awaited reunion of SRUK/CERU members in the IX International Symposium, we are thrilled to open the Call for the Chair of SRUK/CERU’s X International Symposium, which will take place in the summer of 2023. SRUK’s annual symposium is one of our members’ favourite events, as it provides a platform for SRUK members to meet each other and to share their ideas and experiences with one another.
We are looking for a new Chair!
As every year, we need a Chair to lead the committee in charge of organizing the Annual International Symposium. Any regular member of SRUK/CERU is encouraged to apply to be Chair, regardless of their experience and field of expertise. Being Chair is an extraordinary professional and personal opportunity, as the Chair of the IX SRUK/CERU International Symposium, Pablo Muñoz Rodríguez, explains below.
“Chairing the 9th International SRUK/CERU Symposium, The Joy of Discovery, is one of the most exciting things I have done during my time in the UK. The symposium days were, I think, also my happiest days as a long-time SRUK/CERU member. As many attendees said during the meeting, SRUK/CERU has become what it is thanks to its networking activities and in-person meetings. For that reason, it was a real pleasure to chair what is perhaps SRUK/CERU’s most important event of the year. It was also very intense, especially during the last few weeks before the symposium, but it was worth every hour spent on the organisation.
Altogether, chairing the symposium was a fulfilling experience that required being proactive, as well as flexible and able to change plans along the way. Above all, I enjoyed working with the members of the organising committee; even though we had never met in person, communication between us was constant, sincere and extremely useful, and I think the most important factor for a successful symposium.I encourage SRUK/CERU members to volunteer to chair the next symposium or become part of the organising committee. It was a fantastic experience for me and I am sure it will be so for you too!”

General Information for Chair candidates
The X SRUK/CERU International Symposium will take place at the beginning of the summer of 2023 (usually towards the end of June or beginning of July). The Symposium activities will take place across two days. The activities can include but are not limited to talks and workshops. Each symposium is unique and, consequently, new ideas and proposals for activities are always welcome. The Symposium will be open to all fields represented in SRUK/CERU. Any city in the UK can be the hosting city for the Symposium. The Symposium proposals will be evaluated and voted by SRUK/CERU’s Executive Committee.
