Have you ever wondered what happens with the outdoor settings used to film historical movies? Is there anything we could learn from looking at them with an archaeological perspective? Where do we locate them, in terms of space and time? Are they even real?
If you have ever wondered what happened with the settings where historical movies where filmed -from Spaghetti Westerns to Peplum movies-, then join us to learn what happened with these artificial-yet-historical landscapes, and why it is interesting to look at them through the lens of archaeology, this is, through the study of their material remains.
The talk will take place online on the 16th of May, at 7PM (British time). Our guest speaker will be Jesús Martín Alonso, an archaeologist with more than 15 years of experience in commercial archaeology. Jesus is currently exploring the topic of ‘fake archaeology’ during his PhD at the University of Amsterdam.
