For the International Women’s Day 2024 on the 8th of March, SRUK/CERU has prepared a serie of activities to commemorate the role of women in society and to revindicate equality. In this page you will find all the activities and events.


SRUK/CERU 8M webinar series

The SRUK/CERU Midlands constituency has organised a 2-day webinar serie for the International Women’s Day 2024 featuring two outstanding women in very different fields to highlight their work and to learn from two different perspectives about how being a woman has influence their careers and life. The webinars will be on the 5th and 7th of March at 5pm (UK time) online and registration is required to get the link. This year we will hear from:

  • Dr Marta Beltrán: Dr Beltrán is an Associate Professor (on leave) at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid working on security and privacy in distributed systems and a member of the the Advisory Group of the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). Dr Beltrán is also the author of Mr Internet, where she explored the relationship between technology and gender and how technology affects differently women.
  • Dr Judith Juanhuix: Dr Juanhuix is responsible of the XIARA beamline at the Alba synchrotron in Barcelona. Apart from being a prolific scientist, Dr Juanhuix is a trans activist and member of different organisations that fight for trans rights. She is the author of Una donna, a book where she talks about her life, her own transition, and the role of women.
