We would like to invite you to the 2023 SRUK/CERU Emerging Talent Award Ceremony, which will be held at the Embassy of Spain London on Monday, 2nd Decemberer 2024, from 6:00 pm. This award, sponsored by the Fundación Banco Santander, aims to recognise and support a promising young Spanish researcher who has developed their career in the UK. Register through the SRUK/CERU Member’s Zone.
Fundación Santander and SRUK/CERU will award Prof. Emilio Martínez Pañeda, a group leader in Mechanics of Materials at the University of Oxford. At the ceremony, the awardee will deliver a lecture about his scientific contributions, which span multiple areas of material science, including the development of new materials for batteries, wind turbines, and hydrogen storage This talk will be followed by a complimentary Spanish wine reception and networking opportunity among our members and guests.
Prior to the ceremony, SRUK/CERU members are also invited to participate in a networking session with the awardee at 5:00 pm, also taking place at the Embassy. This activity will provide SRUK/CERU members the opportunity for discussing and sharing with the awardee their impressions about the opportunities and challenges arising from becoming a junior PI.
A number of microgrants are available to cover part of the travel expenses of SRUK/CERU members attending both, the networking event and the award ceremony, from outside London. You can check the value and details on our website. To obtain a microgrant, SRUK/CERU members will have to include a question to the awardee or explaining what they highlight from the awardee’s career in a maximum length of 200 words when registering for the event.
