The nomination process for the SRUK/CERU Merit Award, the highest honour awarded by our Society, is now open. This biennial award, established in 2016, recognises the career of a senior and internationally renowned Spanish researcher based in the UK who has significantly contributed to their field of expertise, had an impact on wider society, and promoted scientific collaborations between Spain and the United Kingdom. Previous years’ awardees are Sonia Antoranz Contera (2024), Carmen Galán (2022), Esther Rodríguez Villegas (2020),Mercedes Maroto (2018) and Alfonso Martínez-Arias (2016).
All SRUK/CERU members can nominate their favourite candidate for the SRUK/CERU Merit Award 2026. If you know of well-established Spanish researchers who you think may be eligible for this award, all you need to do is nominate them to the 2026 SRUK/CERU Merit Award by filling in this form (you can nominate one candidate). Any direct contribution to SRUK/CERU activities and initiatives will be considered, as well as their contribution to one or more of the founding objectives of our Society. The deadline for nominations is Sunday, 22nd March 2026.
After the aforementioned deadline, the SRUK/CERU Executive Committee will vote and select the winner of the SRUK/CERU Merit Award 2026. The awardee will be announced in our 13th International Symposium SRUK/CERU, which will take place from 26 to 28 June 2026 at the University of Oxford.
