Working Group of Wom=n Equity & Research Committee
I have a degree in Marine Science from the University of Vigo, a master’s degree in Oceanography from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and a PhD in Oceanography from the University of Cádiz. My research interest focuses mainly on the study of physical-biological interaction, applying different methodologies (satellite images, in situ samplings, and different numerical models) depending on the questions to be answered. I am currently a research associate at the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, as part of a Leverhulme Trust-funded project team. The main objective of this project is to determine how the biodiversity of phytoplankton (microscopic algae that live in the first meters of the water column) affects ocean production, and therefore the sequestration of atmospheric CO2.
