I’m a pharmacist graduated in 2018 from the Universitat de Barcelona. After earning considerable experience in retail pharmacy, a year in a hospital pharmacy in Paris, and a short but intense internship in a pharmaceutical industry, I chose to redirect my career path towards research. I’m currently a PhD student in the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics at the University of Bradford. My drug discovery project is focused on developing new therapeutics by targeting aldehyde dehydrogenase imbalances to treat sight-threatening ocular diseases, mixing both synthetic organic chemistry and biochemistry. The project is based on an international collaboration between University of Bradford, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, University College London and the LV Prasad Eye Institutes in India – Although the plans and aims have been adapted due to the pandemic.

I’m a very proactive person who enjoys a good conversation. I joined SRUK to have the opportunity to meet people who is/has been in the same position that I am right now, and so be able to learn from their experiences. The time as the SRUK Yorkshire director and Chair of the Instagram team has made me realize how much I like to organize events and share the journey with the community, as well as how much I enjoy being part of the decision-making process of some initiatives of the organization.
