Scientific background: Esther is in the last year of her PhD at the Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London. Her doctoral research is framed in the European FP7 project “Physical Activity Through Sustainable Transport Approaches”, in which she is assessing the impact of built environment policies on cyclists’ behaviour. She is also doing research in bikesharing schemes and cycling equity. Before starting her PhD she had worked in cycling advocacy groups and consultancy. She is in the support committee of the research network Cycling and Society UK, and a member of the Royal Geographic Society Transport Group UK and of Scientists for Cycling EU.
