We are very pleased to announce that the 11th SRUK/CERU International Symposium will take place in Newcastle upon Tyne during Summer 2024 and will be chaired by Ana Viñuela. We are looking forward to meeting you all at this unique event, which is planned to be full of excitement and novelty!
To make this a reality, we are now looking for volunteers to join the Organisation Committee of the event. The SRUK/CERU International Symposium is our Society’s main annual event, a chance for everyone to get together and mingle, to learn about a lot of good research, meet nice people, and have fun.
This year’s theme aims to expand the opportunity to meet people during the Symposium by offering the chance to connect with others through our research:
Connect with Knowledge, Connect with the World
We will place science in the centre of international relationships showcasing SRUK/CERU and its members as a vehicle to connect individuals and ideas across borders. The Symposium will place special emphasis in activities of science communication and science diplomacy, which play a pivotal role in connecting people and researchers from different countries and cultures. By mitigating political barriers, these efforts facilitate collaborative solutions to pressing global challenges such as climate change, public health or space exploration.
Any SRUK/CERU member can be part of the Symposium Committee. No previous experience is needed. On the contrary, by enrolling in the committee, you will develop many useful skills such as: organisational and leadership skills, chairing skills, sponsorship management skills, and team working. Not to mention the great opportunity for growing your network and to develop institutional relations and collaborations.
And remember, you won’t be alone; you will be part of a very welcoming group of people where everyone plays their part and gets support from each other.
If you would like to take part in our Symposium Committee, please don’t hesitate to write to [email protected] before the 10th of November. It will be great to have you on board!
