SRUK in schools and science festivals in Edinburgh

The SRUK workshop “From chaos to super-organisation” is an event designed by Alba Abad and Natalia Torrea for school visits and science festivals. The audience will learn about the incredible journey that DNA undergoes throughout the cell cycle: from a disorganised mesh of fine threads to the formation of highly packed chromosomes. The workshop also helps understanding the importance of this packing process when accessing DNA information and for the accurate distribution of the genetic material during cell division. Errors in this process can lead to diseases like cancer. This workshop runs in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology at the University of Edinburgh.
