In the first Science in the Pub organized by the Northwest constituency of SRUK/CERU, Mario Toubes, PhD Student at Manchester Metropolitan University gave an insight on glacier microbiology in a talk titled “Cool microbes, cold places, frozen colossus”. Mario talked about how glaciers occupy 11% of Earth’s total surface, and despite of being cold, harsh and hostile they harbor a high diversity of microorganism. In this talk, the diversity of microbes, and how the interact with glaciers and with the climate was approached.
