The first meeting between the North-West, Oxford, Yorkshire and Midlands delegations took place the 10th June in Birmingham. Our event, held at the University of Birmingham begun with a small introduction about SRUK Midlands activities by the director, Daniel Escalera. Next, María Cuenca, provided a scientific talk on “The effect of climate change on aquatic systems”. Since the main reason for our event was the creation of scientific collaborations between delegations, we held a “speed dating” between members from different constituencies. In this way we had the opportunity to meet all of us and promote collaborations. Once the “speed dating” was completed, all the participants had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal provided by SRUK Midlands including coffee and dessert. To end our day, we make a guided tour with all the participants (20 in total) of an hour and a half of the city of Birmingham guided by Jose Luis Brioso, stopped in the most emblematic places and finished in one of the oldest pub in town to enjoy a beer and keep our conversations for a little longer.
