On Monday, 17th December 2018, from 18:30, the 2018 SRUK Emerging Talent Award Ceremony will be held at the Spanish Embassy in London (24 Belgrave Square, SW1X 8QA).
This SRUK award, supported by Fundación Banco Santander, aims to recognise and support a promising young Spanish researcher who has developed his/her career in the UK. This year’s Emerging Talent Awardee is Dr David Fairén Jiménez, from University of Cambridge, who will give a lecture about his research career and how he will use the award.
SRUK members ONLY are invited to attend the ceremony. To confirm attendance to the Award Ceremony, please register HERE by 10th December 2018 (free entrance until complete capacity).
Prior to the ceremony, SRUK members are also invited to the informal activity “Work-life balance: An informal discussion” at 5:30PM, also taking place at the Embassy. This activity will give SRUK members interested in work-life balance issues and with caring responsibilities the possibility to network and share impressions about the opportunities and challenges that researchers face in this topic. This networking café will be attended by the awardee and the chair of the evaluating committee, Prof Laura Lechuga.
A number of microgrants are available to cover part of the travel expenses of the members attending this activity from outside London. To obtain the microgrant, SRUK members should send a motivation letter of 200 words max to firstname.lastname@example.org before the 30th November 2018. The applications will be considered depending on the relevance of this topic to them and/or the impact their attendance will have on the applicant’s career. Students and researchers at early stages of their career, and members attending from distant cities will have priority. Grants for £75, £50, and £15 will be awarded, depending on the travel distance.
