Wo/Men Professional Development webinar: Career breaks and career Re-entry fellowships Daphne Jackson Trust

Are you thinking about a career break but afraid about how to come back to academia afterwards? Hopefully, there are schemes and fellowships to help returners get back on track in academia. The Wo/Men Committee is therefore happy to announce the second webinar about “Career breaks and re-entry career fellowships” within the Wo/Men Professional Development Series, taking place on the 3rd of July at 12.00. In this webinar, we have invited two speakers: Katie Perry, Chief Executive of the Daphne Jackson Trust, and Dr. Maria Ribera Vicent, former Daphne Jackson Fellow. They will give us an overview of their programme and personal experiences.

Spanish-born Dr Maria Ribera-Vicent completed her Daphne Jackson Fellowship in 2018. Prior to starting her Fellowship in 2015, she took a three-year career break to raise her young family. The Fellowship was hosted by the University of Surrey, under the supervision of Professor Guglielmo Aglietti, and sponsored by the University of Surrey and Royal Academy of Engineering. Maria’s research project for her Fellowship was in the aerospace engineering field, looking at satellite FEM validation with advanced optimization and virtual vibration testing. After completing her Fellowship, she was successful in gaining a position at Imperial College London as a Teaching Fellow.
