Irene Etxeberria Altuna moved to London to study a BSc in Neuroscience at University College London (UCL), from where she graduated with First Class Honours. During her time at UCL, she was involved in different student societies and in science communication; she received the first price in a Writing and Presenting Biosciences module. She also carried out her research project under Prof. Steve Hunt’s supervision on chronic pain treatment. She has recently been awarded with the laCaixa fellowship for postgraduate studies, in order to study the Dual Master in Brain and Mind Sciences, organized by UCL, École Normale Supérieure and Université Pierre et Marie Curie. Her master’s research project will explore the role of REM sleep in memory consolidation.
