The NorthEast Constituency is organizing a workshop session on scientific career opportunities


From admissions to a PhD program to jobs in industry and beyond.

This free ‘in person’ event will give attendees the opportunity to learn from the experience of those doing the job, and guidance on how to get there.


18.00 – Welcome! Ana Viñuela, Director of the Northeast Constituency of SRUK. 
18.15 – How to enroll in a PhD in the UK. Dr. Elisa López-Capel. Lecturer and Postgraduate admissions academic selector.
18.30 – Doing a PhD. 
Sergio Serrano. Postgraduate Student in Energy Materials at Newcastle University.
18.45 – Defending your PhD thesis.
19.00 – What’s it like to be a postdoc in the UK? Dr. María Emilia Dueñas, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow.
19.15 – Doing Science in industry. Prof. Carrie Amber, Durham University, working in LightOx
19.30 – Q&A and discussion.
20:00 – Closure
