History

    The Society of Spanish Researchers in the United Kingdom (SRUK/CERU) started in June 2011, but was officially established in July 2012. This is a summary of the History of the Society, depicting each of its activities, meetings, and events.

    Seminar in Cambridge

    The SRUK-Cambridge Constituency organises a new event entitled “Reconstructing the History of (each and every) Science: An interactive Workshop” presented by Dr Francisco A. González-Redondo, Senior Lecturer in History of Science, (Complutense University of Madrid) followed by a social lunch at Las Iguanas, Cambridge.

    The SRUK-London Constituency organises a new “Science in the Pub” event at Jamón-Jamón Tapas Bar in London entitled “Entorno a la Generación del 14: pre-historia y proto-historia de CERU/SRUK” presented by Dr Francisco A. González-Redondo, Senior Lecturer in History of Science (Complutense University of Madrid) followed by dinner and social networking.

    SRUK-The Midlands Constituency organizes a Social Dinner at The Red Deer, Sheffield to meet new people in the area and do some networking.

    Foundation of Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds Constituency

    The SRUK- Manchester/Liverpool/Leeds Constituency is officially constituted with a new board elected: Irene de Lázaro (Director), Pedro Torres (Vice-Director) and Jacobo Elies (Secretary). The new constituency also creates a working group to plan and organise local social and scientific events.

    The SRUK-Cambridge Constituency organises a new “Pint of Knowledge” event at The Panton Arms Pub, entitled “Unleashing the Power of Genomics in the Clinic” with 3 guest speakers, Francesc Coll, Jelena Aleksic & Sergio Martínez Cuesta, talking about the recent advances in genomics that are transforming the ways we study and treat diseases.
